QMSO ensures compliance to standards

Through the different measures conducted by the Quality Management Office (QMSO), the Philippine Science High School- SOOCCSKSARGEN Region Campus (PSHS-SRC) is prepared for the ISO 9001:2015 ISO Surveillance this November 26-27, Quality Management Services (QMS) Internal Quality Auditor Puul Randy Gumanao said.

“The main purpose of the surveillance audit is to check the sustainability of our compliance to the ISO standards starting from the time we were granted the certification,” Gumanao said.

The school has a QMS team led by Quality Management Representative Edman H. Gallamaso, Internal Auditor Paul Randy Gumanao, and Document Control Chairmaine Cabataña and an internal quality team composed of 9 personnel.

Preceding the ISO surveillance to be carried out by external auditors, an internal quality audit was done last October 23-25 to check if the school is ready for the surveillance.

Gumanao also said that Corrective Action Requests (CARS) were issued to offices which committed deviations, such as incomplete records or forms, and minor lapses during the internal audit were easily corrected.

Gumanao explained that this ISO Surveillance will check whether the school is still complying with its Quality Management System and adhering to the international standards set by the ISO.

This will also ensure that the main product of the school, which is the curriculum, matches the standards and benefits the students.

Several risks are also prevented or minimized by strictly complying with the risk treatment plan which is a requirement to the certification.

“Having the ISO certification is not just an added prestige to the school, but more than that, it is something that will help us observe a system of quality. It will help us develop this culture of continual improvement,” Gumanao said.

The ISO 9001:2015 ISO Certification is good for three years and every year an ISO surveillance is conducted in order to ensure the sustainability of its compliance to the ISO international standard in pursuit of continual improvement and sustainable excellence to serve the scholars, the institution’s stakeholders.
