SRC celebrates nat’l statistics month

With the theme, “Data Innovation: Key to a better nation”, Philippine Science High School - SOCCSKSARGEN Region Campus (PSHS-SRC) culminates the 30th National Statistics Month with a series of statistics related activities at the Student activity center, November 8.

In line with the celebration, the school invited Richard D. Samulde, the winner of the 2019 National Statistics Month Jingle Making competition, to talk to the scholars about the importance of statistics and data innovation and  his composition.

“Ang mga survey, ang mga numero na lumalabas, mga datos na sinusumite ng PSA ay nakakatulong para sa ating mga mambabatas, sa ating mga ekonomista, kung pano nila sosolusyonan ang ating mga problema para sa kaunlaran ng ating bansa,” said Samulde.

Moreover, the school also invited grade 5 students from Notre Dame of Marbel University - Integrated Basic Education Department, Matulas Elementary School, and Koronadal Central Elementary School 1 and 2 to participate in the Stat camp.

The camp, facilitated by the grade 10 data science innovation class, included different statistics-related activities for the grade 5 students like making, interpreting, and presenting different kinds of graphs.

“Without statistics, our nation will [have] no basis for improvement for our economy,” said Nathan Madronero, a statistics teacher in PSHS-SRC.

Furthermore, the Mathematics unit of the school also conducted the Stat Quiz where students from different grade levels answered a series of statistics and probability questions ranging from easy, average, and hard. The quiz was won by grade 9 students Rudj Johnlouie Romualdo and Val Derrick James Alamillo.
